Up until the end of Year 2, children will be following the Rocket Phonics programme, which includes reading books to consolidate phonics learning. From Year 3 onwards, children will be reading age-appropriate books within the book bands mentioned above. Teacher assessments will be made to decide which book band is appropriate at which stage for each year group.
